THE LATIN GRAMMY CULTURAL FOUNDATION® TO BENEFIT FROM SALES OF UPCOMING CARLOS VIVES TOUR

Vives has pledged to donate $1 from each ticket sold to support the Foundation in its mission to further music education for future music makers
MIAMI (JUNE 4, 2021) — The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® is pleased to announce Carlos Vives' pledge to donate $1 from each ticket sale for his upcoming 2021-2022 North American tour, "DESPUÉS DE TODO…VIVES" to support the Foundation in its efforts to further the education of music makers around the world through scholarships, grants and music education programs.

"Carlos Vives has been a strong advocate and generous supporter of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation since its inception seven years ago, and we are thankful for his ongoing commitment to music education," said Tanya Ramos-Puig, President of the Latin GRAMMY Foundation. "We hope this exciting donation from such a respected global artist inspires other musicians to join us in supporting our efforts to foster the next generation of Latin music makers."

Vives has been a generous ally of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation since its launch. In 2016 he participated in a Latin GRAMMY In The Schools educational program in Mexico, he generously donated his book "Cumbiana: Relatos de un mundo perdido" to six high schools that had previously benefited from educational programs and in 2018 he co-sponsored the Carlos Vives Scholarship, which provided voice student Nicolle Horbath the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree in Songwriting and Composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Recipients of the annual Prodigy Scholarship are selected by the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation scholarship committee from a highly-competitive group of applicants from across the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula.

With this gift from Carlos Vives, the Foundation would like to motivate other artists to help forge tomorrow's music markers and give back to the communities that support them. ABOUT CARLOS VIVES:
Two-time GRAMMY® and fifteen-time Latin GRAMMY® winner, Carlos Vives is one of the most influential and important figures in Latin music today. As creator of a new sound influenced by the traditional sounds of the Caribbean and the northern region of Colombia, Vives’ work is inspired by the study, knowledge and dissemination of Colombian culture, identity and its complex diversity through music. In 1993, he founded the band La Provincia, which celebrated musicians from remote and rural areas around the Caribbean and served as a home for new and emerging talent in contemporary music. Vives and La Provincia took Colombian culture, identity and music around the world, quickly gaining international recognition. His album Vives surpassed 2 billion streams and included the global hits "La Bicicleta" (Shakira) and "Robarte un beso" (Yatra), which have both generated a combined 2.5 billion views on YouTube. As a tireless educator and cultural ambassador of Colombia, Vives is an avid supporter of Colombian poet Rafael Pombo’s legacy, which he paid tribute to by producing a series of albums titled Pombo Musical. In 2015, he founded Tras La Perla to promote sustainable development in the city of Santa Marta and its region influenced by the Sierra Nevada and Ciénaga Grande.
