OPINIÓN DE LA MESA Divisas 20 de enero de 2020 Comentario de la mesa

Hola muy buen día, empezamos con una jornada con extrema tranquilidad ante
el feriado en la Unión Americana por “Martin Luther King ́s Day”; el precio oscila en un rango de 18.6450 y 18.6875 aproximadamente en este inicio de semana.
Los principales indicadores también amanecen estables con respecto al cierre de la semana anterior; el precio del crudo lo hace en 58.9 dólares el barril, el futuro del “Dow Jones” indica un nivel de apertura 0.17% arriba del cierre previo, el oro se encuentra en 1,560 dólares la onza +0.18; las divisas duras abren con ligero sesgo negativo entre -0.05 y -0.2% al igual que las divisas de  mercados emergentes que caen un poco más de -0.5% exceptuando al peso mexicano que continua con la apreciación aunque ésta es marginal +0.01%.
No hay noticias económicas relevantes esta jornada aunque durante la semana
destacan datos de inflación, desempleo y ventas minoristas en México, además
de que esta semana se reúnen los líderes mundiales en Davos, Suiza y el día de
mañana empieza el Juicio Político (Impeachment) a Donald Trump.
Técnicamente nuestra divisa tiene niveles en 18.61 como soporte fuerte con
resistencia inmediata en 18.73. Después de haber tenido un cierre semanal por
debajo de 18.73 se ha abierto la posibilidad de ir en busca del nivel objetivo de
18.40 ́s aunque se percibe un mercado “cansado” y con la necesidad de un
regreso natural hacia los 18.80 ́s para después continuar la baja en el precio.

This week we have World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, investors we ́ll
be waiting for global economy outlook for 2020.
Trump ́s impeachment will begin tomorrow; democrats are intensifying their
demands and want to put some high ranked officials who played key roles on the
stand. As we know, Republicans are majority in the Senate, so no harm is
expected for President Trump.
Peso keeps strong, trading around 18.66, highest level since October 2018. We
are expecting a range between 18.61 and 18.73 for today.
Euro is trading around 1.1090 while GBP is around 1.30.

A day like today in 1841, during the first Opium War, China cedes the island of
Hong Kong to the British with the signing of the Chuenpi Convention, an
agreement seeking an end to the first Anglo-Chines conflict.
In 1893, Britain invaded China to crush opposition to its interference in the
country ́s economic and political affairs. One of first Britain ́s acts of the war was
to occupy Hong Kong, in 1841, China ceded the island to the British and in 1842,
the Treaty of Nanking was signed, formally ending the first Opium War.
Britain’s new colony flourished as an East-West trading center, and as the
commercial gateway and distribution center in southern China. In 1898, Britain
was granted an additional 99 years of rule over Hong Kong under the second
Convention of Peking. In September 1984, after years of negotiations, the British
and the Chinese signed a formal agreement approving the 1997 turnover of the
island in exchange for Chines pledge to preserve Hong Kong ́s capitalist system.
