Meth Seized by Officers at Port of San Luis

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis arrested a 38-year-old Mexican woman after finding nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine in her vehicle when she attempted to enter the United States on Feb. 24.

Officers working with a CBP narcotics-detection canine located the drugs, valued at approximately $78,000, in the vehicle’s center console.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle and turned the woman over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Federal law allows officers to charge individuals by complaint, a method that allows the filing of charges for criminal activity without inferring guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
